KARE-Citizen Science (KARE-CS) brings climate change adaptation and the public together and is specifically targeted at students and teachers (high school, middle school and high school).

The central goals of the project are:

  • Sensitizing students and their social environment to the more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events and associated risks due to climate change.
  • Establishing a continuous transfer of knowledge between school and science.
  • Developing a prototypical training concept for educational institutions together with the participating schools, based on a citizen science approach, which can be continued independently by the Bürgerstiftung Energiewende Oberland after the funding of KARE-CS.

In the process, students are given the opportunity to collect observations with their own measuring stations and to create and evaluate local effects of (extreme) weather events and to communicate them online.
