The following modules must be completed as part of the mandatory area, which comprises 40 credit points:

- Climate modelling and variability (10 CP),
- Large scale atmospheric dynamics (10 CP),
- Atmospheric turbulence (5 CP),
- Statistical modelling in atmospheric sciences (5 CP) and
- Weather and climate research project (10 CP)
