On 06/15/2021, Dr.-Ing. Simon Plank from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) held the fifth and last Webinar of our series on the topic 'The international Charter Space and Major Disasters - Satellite data to support disaster response worldwide'.

We were really happy to welcome about 30 participants from numerous countries and institutions. The participants learned more about what the Charter actually is, who is involved and how it manages to provide such rapid response to disaster situations. To illustrate this, different disaster scenarios were presented as well as which type of satellite data and steps of analysis are best suited for the support of rapid response.

  • 06/09/2021 Webinar-4

On 06/09/21, Dr. Olaf Conrad from the Institute for Geography (IGeogr) at the University of Hamburg, Germany, held the fourth Webinar of our series on the topic ‘From points to space - interpolation and regression with SAGA GIS’.

We were really happy to welcome about 30 participants from numerous countries and institutions. The participants had learned more about the open source and freely available software SAGA GIS and got an introduction on how to derive continuous fields in form of raster data from irregularly distributed point data.

Interpolation and Regression-based approaches like Nearest Neighbor, Triangulation, Splines, IDW, Ordinary Kriging and Multiple Linear Regression were demonstrated using the example of climate data.
