María Piquer-Rodríguez participated in the first face-to-face workshop of the ROSA network, which aims to link and integrate social and ecological monitoring in the Andes, and was held in Tucumán between 15 and 20 May. The workshop was a fruitful space for the exchange of ideas, information and joint work among the participants. The basis of the network was presented, sites where social-ecological monitoring is being carried out in the Andes were identified and strategies for the consolidation of the network were discussed.
The workshop was attended by researchers from Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, UK, and Italy. Representatives of the Proyungas Foundation, the municipality of Yerba Buena and the DFFS of the province of Tucumán also attended. The workshop included a socio-environmental reconnaissance through different nearby towns; San Javier, La Sala, Tafí del Valle and Cafayate.
The workshop was organised by the Institute of Regional Ecology, the Institute of Geography of the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB), the Institute of Territorial and Technological Research for Habitat Production (INTEPH), CONDESAN, Global Land Programme Latin America (GLP), with funding from ESA - European Space Agency (ESA) and Future Earth.
