Visiting Researcher Dr. Alma Mendoza Joins the MHEI Team

Dr. Alma Mendoza is a biologist and holds a master's degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She has a master's degree in Conservation and Management of Species in International Treaty from the International University of Andalusia and a doctorate in Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Edinburgh. She has completed three postdoctoral fellowships: one at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), one at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Change at the National University Autonomous of Mexico (UNAM), and one at the Institute of Ecology. Her areas of expertise are land use/cover change models under different scenarios.

Alma is visiting the Free University of Berlin because she is collaborating with the Modelling Environmental Human Interactions group as part of my postdoctoral fellowship. Together with Jun.-Prof. María Píquer-Rodríguez and Dr. Martha Bonilla-Moheno from the Institute of Ecology, she is developing a typology of terrestrial social and ecological systems for Mexico.
