Modelling of the risk oriented and integrative management of water resources under changing climatic conditions in the coastal catchment of the Muzhu River ,Weihai, China (BMBF)
Project Description
The overall aim of the research project is to develop of a management concept for water resources in the Muzhu River basin to mitigate risk potentials due to floods, water shortage and saltwater intrusion in the coastal area. The research focuses on the model-based development of measures and their implementation to reduce flood peaks and increase groundwater recharge and the groundwater discharge to reduce the salt concentration of groundwater in the coastal area. In a further step the effects of possible future climate changes on the hydrological system will be analysed.
