Mind mapping

Extracting objectives and hypothesis from a mind map

Extracting objectives and hypothesis from a mind map

De-dissolve the topics and move to an arrangement that stimulates creativity, allows flexible additions of complementary or related ideas, derive hypothesis, objectives, goals and activities, and arrange those according to hierarchy or time lines.(Buzan and Buzan 2002)

The technique described in the quotation above is mind mapping, a method which combines logical thinking (right hemisphere of the brain) and intuitive thinking (left hemisphere).

The method helps you to combine key words and to put them in a logical order. New ideas generated from the existing ones can be easily added. Eventually, you can derive some elements of the project structure from the mind map

  • one hypothesis
  • several objectives
  • for each objective: approaches, methods and disciplines
