05/18/2021 Dimitris Karakostis (WFP): Remote Sensing in support of impact evaluation by wildfires
Every year thousands of hectares of forested and agricultural land are burned in the Levant, due to the wildfires. The impact of the fires on the local communities, economy, and environment is huge.
To ensure a quick and targeted response is crucial to identify the affected locations and estimate the size of the burnt areas. In this presentation, we will present a workflow, which was put in place and used during the wildfires of summer-autumn 2020 in the Coastal area of Syria for the quick estimation of the affected areas.
