Nature communications publication - new mineral phase identified on Mars
News from Aug 05, 2025
An international research group led by Dr. Janice Bishop, a scientist at the SETI Institute and NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), has identified and characterized an unusual iron hydroxysulfate phase through a combination of laboratory experiments and observations from Mars orbit. Combined with other instruments, data from the High Resolutin Stereo Camera (HRSC) camera on the European Mars Express probe plays an important role here, FU scientists are also involved in the work.
