We're excited to announce the second edition of the BESR conference held at the GeoCampus of Freie Universität Berlin on the 6th and 7th of October 2025!

The BESR conference is aimed at early-career scientists from Berlin and surrounding areas from all fields related to space research, including, but not limited to, astronomy, astrophysics, astrochemistry, astrobiology, planetary sciences and aerospace engineering. After the first edition hosted by Flo and David in the FU Berlin Biophysics department last year, this year’s event is organised by Tom, Marie, and other members of the Planetary Sciences group at FU Berlin.

Our goal is to create a relaxed, small-scale conference where early-career researchers can share their work in a supportive, like-minded community. Scientists from all early-career stages are welcome to apply: Bachelors and Masters students, PhD candidates, and Postdocs within 5 years of completing their PhD.

You can apply by submitting an abstract (English language, max. 350 words) covering your own research via this form. The submission deadline is 12^th September 2025 at 23:59. We will inform you of the application outcome by 22^nd September.

The conference will be held in Berlin-Lankwitz on the Geosciences Campus of the Freie Universität Berlin and is free of charge. Note that lunch is not provided but there is a cafeteria on site, and we will provide light refreshments.
