Examination Regulations |
In order to complete the master’s degree program, students must earn a total of 120 credit points.
The various components of the master’s degree program include:
- Introductory subjects totaling 20 credit points,
- a core area totaling 25 credit points,
- a specialization area totaling 10 credit points,
- an academic and professional practical work area totaling 20 credit points,
- an interdisciplinary elective area totaling 15 credit points, and
- a master’s thesis, including a presentation of the research outcomes, totaling 30 credit points.

Exmamination Board |
Professor Toni Schmiz is the contact person for the Examination Board. For enquiries in this regard, please contact humangeoexam@geo.fu-berlin.de.
The Examination Board advises and decides on matters relevant to studies. These include the recognition of courses and placement in higher semesters. The Examination Board is made up of the elected professors, academic staff, other members of staff and students. Elections to the examination board take place every two years. The current composition of the board can be found here (in German).
