The Road to Sedentarisation. A Case Study for Kazak Pastoralists in Xinjiang of China

This research project primarily focuses on Pastoralist Resettlement Projects in Kazak region in Xinjiang of China. The study, taking Arasan Village Anju Fumin Program as an example, tries to reveal the whole implemental process of scientifically guided projects that were translated by projectors and officials to the pastoralists based on the ideas of science, ecology, development and sustainability, and how the response to this concept of scientific and development projects is articulated? It will also trace what kinds of cooperation and conflicts did the project bring to the project planner, local government and the pastoralists.
