Research data of the Department of Earth Sciences

Research data generated at the Department of Earth Sciences at Freie Universität can be discovered on this website.

Research data management

Huge quantities of data are produced by numerous departments at Freie Universität Berlin every day. The geosciences also use data as the basis or object of their research, not to mention adapting, analyzing, and visualizing them.

Researchers are not only faced with the challenge of managing these data, but also making them usable and accessible in the long term, as well as making them available to others for subsequent use. Both advisory and training formats are being continuously enhanced to support researchers in this process.

More information can be found on the website of the Research Data Management team at the FU Berlin. Detailed, predominantly German-language information on research data management is also provided by the website forschungsdaten.info, incl. subject-specific pages, for example for the geosciences.

NFDI4Earth

The NFDI Earth System Sciences consortium (NFDI4Earth) started work in autumn 2021. The project is part of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and aims to standardise existing and future strategies and services for research data management in the Earth sciences and to align them with the principles of openness and the FAIR principles. Freie Universität Berlin participates in this initiative. More information on this website.
