Primo AI – AI-assisted Research Tool

Primo AI is a pilot extension of Primo that enables AI-assisted research exclusively in electronic resources.

Capabilities:

• Get started with a thematic search

• Gain an overview of electronic publications

• Identify possible search terms

• Receive orientation for the writing process

Limits / Restrictions:

• Only evaluates titles and abstracts of electronic resources

• Does not replace classic Primo or specialized database searches

• Cannot perform full-text searches, access print materials, or create systematic literature reviews

• Results must always be critically evaluated

How do I use Primo AI?

Log in to the library portal with your FU account → select the “Primo AI” tab → enter your question in natural language. Access to licensed content is restricted to the campus network (eduroam/VPN).

Do I still need Primo if I have databases?

Yes. Primo provides a broad overview but complements rather than replaces subject-specific databases.
