Freshwater availability is not equally distributed arround the world. The figure demonstrates the freshwater availability per territory. The larger the territory is displayed the larger is the relative amount of water available:
- very much freshwater available: Brazil, DR Congo, Sumatra, Japan, Norway
- very little freshwater available: Sahara region, Argentine, Central Asia, East Africa
The freshwater availability is a factor of climate and environment only, not putting into account technical possibilities and infrastructure for water harvesting, storage or processing.
