My background is in atmospheric physics, having completed my DPhil at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Prof. Raymond Pierrehumbert. My thesis focused on the atmospheric dynamics and habitability of temperate sub-Neptune exoplanets, using 3D climate models and 1D radiative-convective models. My later work showed that these planets' hydrogen atmospheres are very effective greenhouses, making habitable surface conditions with Earth-like irradiation less likely!
At FU I work on modelling the atmospheres of rocky planets with reduced interiors and how we can link atmospheres with interior conditions. Very generally, my research interests are:

  • Interior-atmosphere interactions
  • Atmospheric modelling
  • Planetary habitability
  • Geophysical fluid dynamics
