I am an interdisciplinary paleobiologist with broad interests in revealing the history and future of life on our changing planet, with particular interests in the exploration of fossil biomolecules and their encoded biosignatures. I explore molecular and morphological physiological insights to understand the evolutionary mechanisms leading to the independent emergence of gigantism in the past, and I aim to elucidate the extinction susceptibility of large-bodied terrestrial animals in the face of environmental and ecosystem change. I believe that understanding the mechanisms of macroevolution has the potential to inform long-term biodiversity conservation strategies in this critical moment of global change. I currently conduct my research in affiliation with the Oertijdmuseum in the Netherlands, and John Hopkins University in the United States.
