Areas of interest

  • Coral reef ecology
  • Sclerochronology
  • Environmental reconstructions

My research focuses mainly on growth reconstructions from massive tropical corals, aiming to better understand their responses to climate change and anthropogenic impacts. Specifically, I use seasonal density growth bands obtained from coral cores, particularly the Atlantic reef-building corals Siderastrea siderea and Montastraea cavernosa, to investigate the influence of environmental changes on calcification rates and geochemical records. In addition, my interest revolves around the dynamics of coral reef communities and how these relate to changes in environmental conditions.
