Das übergeordnete Ziel meiner Forschung ist es, zu einem besseren Verständnis der zeitlichen Entwicklung des "Systems Erde" beizutragen, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Zusammenspiels von Klimaprozessen in den niederen und hohen Breiten sowie Verknüpfungen zwischen marinen und terrestrischen Klimasystemen. Ein solches Verständnis ermöglicht es, zukünftige Szenarien einer zunehmend anthropogen beeinflussten Welt abzuschätzen. Diese Einblicke werden gewonnen durch den Einsatz neuster Methoden aus den Fachbereichen der Paläontologie, Sedimentologie und Geochemie.

  • Entschlüsselung des Zusammenhangs zwischen klimatischen Veränderungen in Afrika und der menschlichen Evolution
  • Globale Monsunvariabilitäten während der letzten 5 Millionen Jahre – ein Analog für zukünftige Klimaveränderungen?
