Dr. Nepomuk Boitz
AG Allgemeine und Angewandte Seismologie
Nepomuk studied Geophysics and Geoinformatics at TU Bergakademie Freiberg and moved to Freie Universität in 2013, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 2014. As a student member, Nepomuk joined the seismology group in 2014 and obtained his Master of Science in 2017 with a thesis on source mechanisms in anisotropic media. In the following years he continued his research on microseismic source mechanisms and geomechanical explanations of fracturing-induced seismicity and received his PhD in 2021. Currently he works as a postdoctoral researcher on microseismic signatures in DAS (distributed acoustic sensing) data and on the statistical analysis of maximum induced earthquake magnitudes.
