My research is centered on sustainable metal recovery and recycling, with a particular focus on critical and valuable metals from batteries, electronic waste, and other secondary resources. I work on the development and optimization of hydrometallurgical and biohydrometallurgical processes, including leaching, metal separation, precipitation, solvent extraction, and electrowinning. An important part of my research is understanding how operating conditions and material properties affect recovery efficiency, selectivity, and product quality. I am also interested in developing recycling processes that are not only efficient at laboratory scale but can be transferred to larger and more practical applications. At Freie Universität Berlin, I am currently working on ionic-liquid-based processes for the recovery of critical raw materials from different waste streams, followed by the development of selective separation processes to recover precious and critical metals individually from the resulting leachates.
