Hello everyone, we are the Meteorology Student Council (FSI). We are a group of students who aim to breathe a bit of life into our department and to encourage communication among students from different years, as well as between students and departmental staff.

We place great importance on supporting and motivating one another, and we try in particular to give first-years a helping hand. To this end, we organise:

• A get-together for first-years

• A trip for first-years (Ersti-Fahrt)

• A party for first-years

• A get-together every second Friday of the month (Stammtisch)

• A Christmas party 

• A summer party - 16.07.2026

We also provide catering during the Long Night of Science (Langen Nacht der Wissenschaften). This means that at every event we either have a barbecue (now vegetarian only) and/or serve delicious waffles, along with seasonal drinks such as beer, mulled wine, Spezi and other beverages.

As you can see, you can have a lot of fun with us! We want to make your studies as enjoyable as possible and are open to all ideas. A summer party with a dance performance to Mamma Mia and matching costumes, a weekend at Xletix, bouldering together, a Mario Kart tournament and games night, or simply cooking together or going out for a meal… we do it all and welcome everyone.

To support you in your day-to-day student life, we run Café d’Horst, our study café, where anyone can come to study or relax. You’ll also find past exam papers, lecture notes and revision sheets there. Plus, there are almost always other students there to chat with.
