The Berlin Urban Monitoring Network, which is operated by the Institute of Meteorology, has been continuously expanded since 1998 and will comprise a total of 8 stations by 2026.

This includes WMO Station 10381 Berlin-Dahlem, where air temperature, humidity, precipitation, duration of precipitation, surface and soil temperature, and air pressure are measured. At the Fichtenberg station, wind direction and wind speed, duration of sunshine and other radiation parameters are measured. Measurements are taken at one-minute intervals, meaning that approximately 100,000 data points are collected daily by the control centre at the Institute of Meteorology. In Berlin-Dahlem, visual observations from students and staff soupplement the data set.

Furthermore, there are water sports stations at Wannsee, Tegeler See and Pichelsdorf, where water temperature is also measured.

In addition, there are weather stations in Gatow, at the Tegel Forestry Office, on Funkturm and at the Planetarium Prenzlauer Allee.
