The Mars Express spacecraft of the European Space Agency ESA, which went into Mars orbit 25 December 2003, will complete its 20,000th Mars orbit today. On board is the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC), a German research instrument that was developed at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and is operated by the DLR Institute of Planetary Research in Berlin-Adlershof. During 20,000 Mars orbits, HRSC has captured an enormous amount of image and topography data. At the Freie Universität Berlin more then 1230 image products, 40 mosaics, and 26 animations were created out of it, published regularly in Images&Animations.
