Saturday, 21 September 2019, the first German astronaut Sigmund Jähn died at the age of 82. Together with his sovjet colleague Waleri Bykowski, Jähn visited the Saljut 6 space station in 1978, flying with a Sojus 31 rocket. During his one-week stay in space, images were taken with the MKF-6 mulitspectral camera, an instrument build in the German Democratic Republic for remote sensing of the Earth. Today, the German Astronautics Exhibition in Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz in Saxony, the place of birth of Sigmund Jähn, reminds of the first German space flight
