On June 24, 2026, Professor Fang-Zhen Teng of the University of Washington at Seattle received the 2026 Humboldt Research Award for pioneering applications of multi collector plasma source mass spectrometry in stable isotope geochemistry. His work on mass-dependent stable isotope variations of rock-forming elements like lithium, magnesium and potassium has transformed our understanding of magmatism, weathering, and other planetary processes. Fang-Zhen is currently hosted by the Geochemistry group of Freie Universität Berlin’s Geological Sciences, where he will be involved in studies of fluid transport in Earth’s deep crust.
