On July 6th, the Modelling Human–Environmental Interactions Group participated with a table at the "Long Night of Science 2026" (Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften). We prepared a game illustrating and comparing carbon storage in the Peruvian Amazon and the Chaco Region in Argentina. Participants had to calculate carbon amounts at different difficulty levels in the two forest regions while learning about their associated main tree species. We were pleasantly surprised by how many young and talented soon-to-be scientists mastered the game and competed eagerly.

Special credit goes to Karla Vergara-Rodriguez and Monica Barcenas for creating the game and Ahuvit Trumper for managing our decorations at the stand — but overall, the whole team helped make this possible!

We were also lucky to be located among so many other interesting booths of the geosciences this evening. Everybody made a great contribution to science communication!
