In the first week of June, Jun. Prof. Dr. Maria Piquer Rodriguez and Monica Barcenas Pazos participated in the Future Earth conference "Towards a just and habitable world: exploring the role of technology." at the UNIL in Lausanne, Switzerland. They organized a session titled "Solar Futures: A Global Dialogue on a Just Energy Transition for Nature and People," featuring researchers Dr. Karla Cedano (UNAM), Franziska Walther (ETH Zürich), Caroline Bottu (UC Louvain), and Monica Barcenas Pazos (FUB). The dialogue explored tensions and synergies around PV solar energy projects in Europe and Mexico, including local communities' opinion, agrobiodiversity, and landscape change, sparking a rich Q&A that continued long after the session ended.
