About Us
The Human Geography division at the Institute of Geographical Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin currently comprises three research groups:
In total, the Human Geography programme at our institute consists of three professorships (Prof. Dr Antonie Schmiz, Prof. Dr Uli Beisel and Prof. Dr Martin Voss) as well as more than 20 other staff members. Together, we provide the human geography contributions to teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes within the Department of Geosciences. Of particular note is the Master’s programme M.Sc. Geographies of Global Inequalities, which we conceptualised and recently launched.
Our research focuses on feminist and postcolonial perspectives in the areas of NatureCultures and Planetary Health in the Global South, migration and the city, as well as the social aspects of risks and disasters.
You can find us on the second floor of Building K at the GeoCampus Lankwitz.
