Lena Bledau and Himani Upadhyay were invited guests of the Amrita University, India, on 2122 February 2017. The main purpose of their visit was to participate in the workshop "Culture sensitive adapted technologies – Transfer of scientific innovations in practice" with Prof. Sethuraman Rao, Associate Professor at the Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications. Prof. Rao works with his team on an app for improving coordination of spontaneous helpers during floods. The Disaster Research Unit provided advice for the team at Amrita University regarding a practical culture-adapted implementation of the app. The workshop took place within the scope of the Indo-German Project FloodEvac.

The two DRU research associates also discussed themes of catastrophe prevention and coping with several departments of the university. This included a meeting with the researchers of the project on Landslide Forecasting and a visit to the Landslide Lab.
