The Disaster Research Unit participated in the conference "Rescue squads and spontaneous helpers: Together at eye level?! Experience accounts and perspective analysis of risk and innovation research" on 23 - 24 January 2017 in Munich.

Prof. Dr. Martin Voss held the keynote speech, entitled "Cooperation between rescue forces and population from a scientific perspective", whereas Dr. Cordula Dittmer moderated the panel on "Management and coordination in emergency response."

The conference aimed at the exchange between science and practice considering the question of how emergency response organizations cooperated with spontaneous helpers during the assistance of refugees at the Munich Central Station. The meeting was held in German and convoked by Project PRAKOS, which is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
