This field trip guidebook provides an overview of knowledge on the geological situation of Jura Creek outcrops, one of popular geological curiosity excursions in the eastern ranges of the Rockies between Calgary and Canmore. This guidebook describes the present-day conditions of these outcrops and reviews the origin of an abrupt surface at which shallow-water carbonate deposits are onlapped by organic-rich anoxic sediments, one of major hydrocarbon sourcerocks underneath Alberta surface.
