My research is focussed on palaeoceanography and palaeoclimatology of Permian, Triassic and Jurassic marine sediments. Of particular interest are the geochemical changes at the Permian-Triassic and the Triassic-Jurassic boundaries. I use oxygen, carbon, sulphur and strontium isotope signatures, as well as main and trace elements, of marine biogens and sediments, to understand interactions between hydrosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere and biosphere and enable characterisation of geologic processes. In addition, I use isotope trends for chemostratigraphy.
