The GeoLearning environment consists of five thematic e-learning modules.
Each e-learning module includes important start information, an introduction to the specific topic, and up to six chapters.
Most of the modules also offer interactive tests or exercises to enable some feedback for the students who work with the material. You will find these exercises or short tests at the end of a chapter, a thematic part, or a module.
You can select the five thematic e-learning modules at the dark blue navigation bar (see figure).
Using the light blue navigation bar below, you can access the main chapters of each module. To select the different sub-chapters of each module please use the pull-down menu or the navigation by the arrows at the top of each page (see also learning options).
Hyperlinks leading to an external website open in a new window; hyperlinks within the GeoLearning environment normally open in the same window (except for the Watershed Management Module).
The e-Learning environment 'GeoLearing' offers some service functionalities which you can access by clicking on the buttons at the service navigation (see figure). For example, you can find
- definitions of specific terms in the Glossary of this e-Learning environment or
- references and recommended literature under Literature.
At the bottom of each web page you can find the complete path of the actual web page. You can get orientation by this micro navigation. If you click on the path sequences you can navigate to the main chapters.
The contents are explained by text, photos, figures, animations, audiofiles and videos depending on the focus of each group.
You have two options to study the topics:
- Follow the contents of the selected e-learning module in the suggested sequence by using the arrows at the top of each page. That way you will get a guided tour through the selected module.
- Choose your own learning path by using the pull-down menu. This way is more explorative and recommendable if you are looking for a special topic or sub-topic.
