Climate models are used to understand the complex interactions of the climate system and be able to predict them for the future. There are various different models (global, regional, local) that are run, improved, and analyzed during this process.
The group’s research focuses on the climate of the past (paleoclimate), that of the future, and the interactions between different stimuli, such as the sun, and the climate on the Earth.

The Climate System Modeling working group deals with the following topics:

  • Model-based simulation of past and future climate
  • Regionalization and validation of global simulations
  • Climate modeling, application and development of models
  • ...
